In keeping with the sorority’s international theme, we have networked with several civic and community organizations. Upsilon Eta Omega has adopted Robinson Elementary School as her adopt-a-school and Beverly Nursing Home, as her adopt-a-senior, both located in Fairfield. We also perform services with the Greater Birmingham Ministries and have funded the Children’s Room at Jessie’s Place of theJimmie Hale Mission located in Birmingham,Alabama. Emerging Young Leaders, our signature program impacts the lives of girls in grades six through eight by providing leadership development, civic engagement, enhanced academic preparation and character building. In addition, we have established partnerships with the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants Financial Literacy Program and the city of Fairfield for their Easter Egg Hunt, Back to School Supply Drive, Fall Festival, and Walk-A-Thon. Recently, the chapter has fostered partnerships with health advocacy agencies like the American Heart Association, Environmental Protection Agency’s Asthma Initiative and Birmingham and Birmingham Aids Outreach Center to leverage health awareness within the black community. For our social justice and human rights initiatives, we have partnered with One Roof’s Project Homeless Connect, The Salvation Army, IMPACT, YWCA to raise awareness about homelessness and children of incarcerated parents, Alzheimer’s Association, National Association for Mental Illness (NAMI), HBCU for Life raised one million dollars in one day for Historical Black Colleges and Universities, and #CAP (College Application Process). In addition, Upsilon Eta Omega has vowed her continued support in our community for the Tornado Relief efforts. Our chapter has participated in Alpha Kappa Alpha’s National Day of Service by participating in the MLK Day Unity Walk, volunteering at the Civil Rights Museum and Jessie’s Place and conducting a voter registration drive in observance of the MLK Day. In addition, Upsilon Eta Omega has partnered with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People to host an Immigration forum within our local community.
Today, our chapter continues the rich tradition of service offered by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® by “Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood" under the leadership of our current President, Ms. Bianca Moore (2023 to 2025).
